It seems like just the other day we were babies ourselves. Look at us now, having our own little one. If you have not visited the site in a week, I posted some 3D pictures of Emma that were taken last Thursday. I have added the same pictures to the left side of the screen. So now the obvious question is, who does Emma look like?

With less than six weeks to go we are both excited and nervous at the same time. Nervous about the delivery process and any complications that may arise, but excited that the long wait is almost over and we will finally meet Emma in person and begin our new life with her in it. The last eight and a half months have been a dream for us that is now becoming a reality.

Emma continues to be very active, twisting, turning, and kicking Elena at all hours of the day. Her activity is causing a considerable amount of pain and discomfort for Elena and is making it difficult for her to sleep at night. Elena started packing her bag for the hospital and washing the clothes that she will bring. She also started creating a checklist so that we don't forget anything in our frantic rush to the hospital on Emma's Birthday. I am certain we will forget a lot of things that day, including her list and pre-packed bag.

We attended our "Infant/Toddler CPR" training class last Monday but the instructor never showed. I imagine this was due to the bad weather we were having that day. I literally submerged my feet into 8-10 inches of water as I crossed the parking lot at work to get to my car. Once my first foot was soaked the damage was already done. My car was about 45 yards away in the same lake of water I had already stepped into so I did my best impersonation of Jesus and sprinted to my car. Of course my feet did not quite stay above the surface and when I got to my car I had to stop and open the door which was quite undesirable. Needless to say, I had a soggy one hour and twenty minute drive home during which I was certain that I would catch pneumonia. In any event, when I made it to the class and the instructor never showed, despite all I had been through, I totally understood because the weather was indeed treacherous.

In the mean time, we are slated for our first of three Lamaze classes this week. Elena and I have heard good and bad things from people who have taken Lamaze. Let's hope our experience is positive.

Finally, it would be remiss for me not to mention the devastation brought to Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama by Hurricane Katrina. Elena and I were extremely saddened by the total losses people suffered due to this storm, and horrified by our government's initial lack of response to aid the people affected. If you want to help but don't know how, the media is reporting the best way is to donate money to the American Red Cross.
